How is a 90 degree street elbow different than a regular 90 degree elbow?

A street fitting has one end that would slip inside of another fitting like a tee or coupler. It is the same diameter as the same size of PVC pipe. The other end of the street fitting is the standard size for the fitting. A PVC pipe would fit into it. I find them easier to use in some situations and they take up less space. HTH
